To be eligible for membership in the East Carolina Youth Lacrosse League (ECYLL), a Club must satisfy the following comprehensive criteria, ensuring a commitment to the league's standards and the overall development of youth lacrosse:
- Non-Profit Status and Youth Focus: The Club must operate exclusively as a non-profit youth sports organization. Alternatively, it may be a recognized entity that explicitly demonstrates a primary and unwavering focus on the growth and development of youth lacrosse within its community. This ensures that the Club's mission aligns with the ECYLL's dedication to fostering young talent and sportsmanship.
- Adherence to ECYLL Regulations: Consistent and complete adherence to all ECYLL bylaws, rules, and regulations is mandatory. These guidelines, as officially published and periodically updated by the league, cover aspects such as game play, player eligibility, coaching conduct, and administrative procedures. Strict compliance guarantees fair play, safety, and the integrity of the league.
- Liability Insurance Coverage: The Club is required to maintain appropriate and comprehensive liability insurance coverage for all its activities, including practices, games, and events. Proof of this insurance must be readily available and provided to the ECYLL upon request. This critical requirement safeguards players, coaches, volunteers, and the league itself from potential liabilities.
- Appropriate Home Field Athletic Facility: The Club must secure and maintain a home field athletic facility that rigorously meets the specifications and requirements for both boys' and girls' lacrosse fields. These specifications are outlined in detail by USA Lacrosse field diagrams, covering dimensions, markings, and safety standards. A suitable playing environment is essential for player safety and the proper execution of the sport.
- Minimum Team Requirement: To demonstrate a viable and active presence within the league, the Club must have a minimum of two boys' teams or an equivalent combination of boys' and girls' teams. This ensures a sufficient base of participants and contributes to the competitive structure and sustainability of the ECYLL.
